Several months ago I found myself in unfamiliar and very unpleasant situation: my monthly expenses were so much higher than my revenue that I had to do something. I also knew the root of my problems:
I was taking care of my mom after her very serious and debilitating cardio-vascular accident that drained not only a lot of physical and emotional strength but cost enormous amounts of money and I was taking care of hers and mine bills. I love my mom very much and I didnt mind it at all till the point when I realized I have to put myself back on track in order to be useful to her. That was the point when I started looking for the bankruptcy attorney. People like me usually dont go through this process and I didnt have any referrals through friends. So what do you do in the situation like this? You look up the attorney on the InternetScary? Yes!
Uncomfortable to make a first call? Of cause S.J. Packman Associates LLC were one of the many choices available on the Internet. And I did shop around: for prices, for a feeling of services they provide. Through my own research I knew that first of all I had to file chapter 7 for my mom (than to refinance my own situation). I was looking for several things:
1. I had to communicate with the attorney office via e-mail, telephone, fax, only, they had to be adequately equipped so my trip to their office was not required (and believe me not all of them were that accommodating).
2. I wanted to make sure that they will file for bankruptcy on time so I will not be harassed by creditors.
3. I didnt want to be jugged by the attorney whom I hire to help me, and I did get some very unpleasant remarks during my interviewing process from some of them.
When I called S.J. Packman, the phone answered their controller of operations non-attorney, but a very knowledgeable person, who answered all my questions and assured me that if I hire their firm, he will be my go to guy with all the problems. And he was. My moms bankruptcy went very smoothly, and on time, I have received reference to a broker who helped me with my refinancing, and now I know that if I have any other problems in the future (I hope not, but just in case) I will give him a call first. I dont know, maybe they just did whatever they were suppose to do, but I had many unpleasant experiences in my life, so when I had a good one I wanted to thank them, and let future clients know that S.J. Packman worth their money and trust.
